These two little guys go wayyyyy back. They were there for each other from the very beginning. I remember when Kingston was around the 10 month to a little over a year mark, and he would crawl off playing somewhere in the house and I’d ask Swirl, “Swirl, where’s the baby? Where’s the baby Swirl?” And Swirl would look at me and then run off to find out where Kingston was. If I could see him, he’d whimper and tell me, ‘this is where Kingston is playing’. Of course, I’d always know where Kingston was but it was cute to watch Swirl go in search. These guys have grown up like brothers – running, playing, defending each other and yes, even a little fighting too! 😂
Right now, Kingston is 6 years old. He’s a healthy, smart, funny, inquisitive little guy. So, don’t be surprised if you get one of those tough questions that seem to come out of nowhere like: Why is the sky blue? It also surprises me just a bit at his command of the English language at his age with his colorful vocabulary. Does he enjoy cooking too? Yes, I think so. He enjoys different dishes but he loves to cook pancakes and help with the scrambled eggs. Flipping the pancakes is the best part for him. He’s getting better with those flips 😊. I’m trying to teach Kingston to eat at home more than out at fast food spots so he’s been seeing dad cook a lot growing up. And recently, he’s seen me start taking nice pictures of my dishes that make him go, ‘wow’. I can tell dinner at home at the table is a stabilizing force for him and a time for nice chats or watching a show we enjoy as we eat. Good times with my little guy! And I can’t talk about Kingston without mentioning his extensive knowledge about dinosaurs and reptiles in general! This past Christmas I got Kingston a gecko that he named Blaze. I thought it would be nice for him to have a low maintenance pet lizard in the house especially since he loves reptiles. His granddad, my dad, thinks he may be a Paleontologist one day. However, I must tell my dad that Kingston and I were watching the NFL playoffs and somehow how much they made came up. I told Kingston that some of these guys are so good they make millions of dollars every year and I literally saw his ears perk up 😂. Kingston actually played flag and tackle football last year and his team went to the championship and won both times. He plays defense most right now at free safety (FS). At the moment, he enjoys football and swimming. He loves the water. One of his most favorite things to do is to go to a water park and play in the wave pool. The water slides are definitely his thing too.
Swirl is a cute little dude with a fun personality too. Swirl is so good that I’ve come to believe that Teacup Yorkies are the best dogs for inside the house. I swear this little guy is the best cuddler in the world. I’m convinced that one of his favorite times is when I’m working on my laptop. He’ll come and get right under my left arm while I’m typing. Swirl is a little dog that I promise could eat 10 times his body weight if I let him 😂. I ask him sometimes, ‘Swirl, how can your little body eat all that’? He’s always looking for tasty meaty morsels of something. I do like how Swirl never just runs up and tries to take a piece of what you’re eating. He actually walks up and seems to ask 😂. Even though sometimes it may be an emphatic ask and a little push 😅, it’s still an ask. Swirl enjoys walks but not too long. He’s a little dude with little legs so he gets tired. He’s taking like 50 steps to one of ours! He also enjoys sleeping, watching squirrels run around from the window and playing Tug of War with Kingston. In the last few years, we often call him Swirly Bear. I think he likes it.
